Description

đŸ’Œ From factories to finance, the story of women entering the workforce is also the story of modern economic change.

Join us at Mr. Mahjong’s for a conversation with Stanford Economics PhD Candidate Tamri Matiashvili as we trace the economic history of women at work—from the factories of the Industrial Revolution to the boardrooms of today.

Drawing on the work of Nobel Laureate Claudia Goldin and other gender economists, this talk unpacks how social norms, education, public policy, and technology shaped when—and how—women gained access to work, especially in higher-skilled professions. But it doesn’t stop there: we’ll also explore what happened when women got in the door. How did their presence reshape jobs, wages, family life, and the economy itself?

No econ degree required—just an interest in how gender, work, and power collide. đŸ“ˆđŸ‘©â€đŸ«
